2010 is the year of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the legendary Japanese filmmaker, Akira Kurosawa. On this occasion, the Executive Committee of the Akira Kurosawa 100 Project (AK100 Project) is setting up a world tour of events and exhibitions on the master’s work.
The first venue to host the exhibition will be the Principality of Monaco where an exhibition of posters, objects, costumes and traditional Japanese armour used in his films will be held, in conjunction with the Tourist Office and Convention Authority.
This exhibition accompanied by the screening of some of his films, offers visitors an insight into the artistic world of the master.
The purpose of the AK100 project is to showcase throughout the world the perfectionism of Akira Kurosawa's work, skilfully combining the experimentation of an artist ahead of his time in which he found his inspiration in traditional Japanese culture.
International events and exhibitions will follow including the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, France, Poland, Hong Kong… and in 2010 in various cities of Japan.
