The Department of the Interior is responsible for conducting public policies relating to the following issues:

- Internal security ande establishment of individuals (examination of applications for a residence permit)
- Civil protection
- National Education
- Youth and Sport
- Culture
- Relations with religious cults
- Coordinating event organisation
- Examination of applications for Monegasque citizenship

The Department of the Interior also acts as the regulating body for associations, federations and foundations.
