Higher School of Plastic Arts is recognised by the French Ministry of Culture. Its main purpose is to provide budding creators with the basic practical and theoretical skills within the field of liberal arts, in addition to preparing them for a future career in design. Tuition not only involves the use of traditional tools and basic practical work, but also all the contemporary tools used in modern-day technology.

Located on the Rocher of Monaco, the Higher School of Plastic Arts is associated with all the art facilities and cultural events within the Principality.

This School awards the national diploma in plastic arts (Bac +3) in art, visual and acoustic communication and design, in addition to the higher national diploma of plastic expression (Bac +5), within the field of scenography.

Subjects taught include the history of art, general and contemporary culture, the scientific approach to plastic arts and modern languages.

Keen to raise public awareness with regard to artistic expression, the school strives to achieve this by opening the doors of its workshops to children, teenagers and adults alike.

Practical experience in the workshops, theoretical training, cultural trips and a programme of conferences provide students with the impetus to carry out their own individual research – a quality that artists, theorists and technicians need to acquire to achieve autonomy. Subjects include drawing, life modelling, painting, graphics, colour, volume, the earth, computer graphics, photography, video, digital tools, engraving and the internet.

The information centre houses a collection of specialised material within the field of contemporary art and culture – the ideal complement to any formal and theoretical research.
