Electric vehicles : a committed Government

This morning, the Minister of State, H.E. Mr. Serge Telle, H.E. Mr. Bernard Fautrier, Vice-President of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and members of the Government presented the zero-emission vehicles made available to them by the Administration as part of the Government's sustainable development policy.

Currently, almost 1,300 electric and hybrid vehicles are in use in the Principality, i.e. 3% of the total number of cars on the road - a record in Europe.  It should be noted that the market for new electric vehicles only represents 0.5% of the European car market.

In Monaco, private individuals are encouraged to buy clean-energy vehicles, and can benefit from a subsidy of 30% of the purchase price including all taxes (not including optional extras and capped at 9,000 euros).  Free charging at stations in public car parks and on the public highway, access to free on-street parking in Monaco and a free annual tax sticker are also part of this policy.
