PATCH MUSEUM at the Villa Paloma

As part of the 2016 Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival (Printemps des Arts), the New National Museum of Monaco is hosting a sound experiment, PATCH MUSEUM, at the Villa Paloma.  The experiment is based on an idea by students of the Villa Arson, Higher National School of Art in Nice, and will take place on Saturday 26 March from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Inspired by the unique backdrop of the exhibition rooms and by the "soul" of the Villa Paloma, PATCH MUSEUM was designed by ten art students and is essentially oriented towards the idea of an in-situ sound trail, with visitors/spectators moving around freely and randomly.  The central staircase, the lift, the projection room … as well as the building's ventilation system – become play areas in which to stage the unique sounds of the architecture and the various spaces.

This sound and spatial performance and installation draws upon all these aspects and on semantic shifts to offer a completely new experience in the Museum area.

* PATCH is a section of computer code that is added to software to make changes and corrections.  The term designates the production of an electronic sound, or the interface of acoustic connections.
