On Monday 11 December, at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM)’s Villa Paloma, Minister of the Interior Patrice Cellario, Minister of Finance and Economy Jean Castellini, NMNM Director Marie-Claude Beaud, and Executive Director of UBS Monaco Agnès Falco renewed their partnership, extending the collaboration which has been in place for five years.

Among the highlights of its 2018 programme, the NMNM will present an exhibition of 10 recently acquired works which have joined the museum’s collections thanks to the support of UBS. This project is the first in a series of presentations of works from the NMNM’s collection and seeks to celebrate philanthropy and the concept of sponsorship through donations from partners and supporters. The artists featured in the first exhibition are Matti Braun, Nathalie du Pasquier, Francesco Gennari, Apostolos Georgiou, Jef Geys, João Maria Gusmão + Pedro Paiva, Jean-Michel Sanejouand and Daniel Steegmann Mangrané.

The museum will also be presenting significant solo exhibitions of works by Alfredo Volpi, Tom Wesselmann and Latifa Echakhch, as well as the LAB#2 project. Dates for these exhibitions will be released shortly.

From the outset, the NMNM, thanks to the support of UBS, has been able to develop major exhibitions and publications while at the same time acquiring a number of artworks. It has also been possible to carry out various collaborative projects through the presentation of works from the UBS Art Collection, starting with Ed Ruscha’s Works on Paper in 2013. Subsequently, Villa Paloma’s ‘Table des Matières’ (‘Table of Contents’) featured a series highlighting one work by one artist, including John Baldessari in 2014 and Thomas Struth in 2016. The same year, a Thomas Demand exhibition at the NMNM brought together works from the museum’s collection with those from the UBS Art Collection, and an Offsite project placed the immersive installation Cloak by British artist Mike Nelson in UBS Monaco’s head office on Avenue de Grande-Bretagne during renovation work.
