Archaeological and museum cooperation with Croatia

A partnership between Monaco’s Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology and the Krapina Neanderthal Museum in Croatia, supported by the Department of International Cooperation, has improved our understanding of prehistory and helped to spread this knowledge, particularly among young people.

As part of the partnership, experts from the Krapina Neanderthal Museum shared their research on the prehistoric populations of Europe and the Mediterranean region with teams from Monaco. They also helped to lead educational workshops aimed at children, on the sidelines of school workshops organised throughout the year by the Department of Education, Youth and Sport.

Krapina is a public institution located on a prehistoric site. It offers an excellent series of displays on Palaeolithic archaeology and welcomes more than 650,000 visitors a year. The Croatian museum’s exhibits include a copy of the Grimaldi Cave burial sites.
