Diplomacy – Accreditations Cyprus – Poland –Slovak Republic – New Zealand

On Thursday 19 October 2017, at a luncheon held at the Hermitage Hotel,Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, received H.E. Mr. Pantelakis D. Eliades, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus; H.E. Mr. Tomasz Mlynarski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland;  H.E. Mr. Igor Slobodnik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic and H.E. Ms. Jane Coombs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand, who presented their Letters of Credence to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince during the morning.

H.E. Mr. Pantelakis D. Eliades joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in 1989.  In 1995, he was appointed to the Political Affairs Department of the MFA.  He then served as First Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Cyprus in Rome.  In 2003, he was appointed representative of Cyprus to the European Union's Political and Security Committee in Brussels, subsequently becoming Director of the Department of Common Foreign and Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  In 2008, he was promoted to Ambassador to Germany.

H.E. Mr.Tomasz Mlynarski pursued a professional career at the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations at the University of Krakow between 2006 and 2012.  From 2006 onwards, he was also CEO of the Polish Music Publishing Company, and then became a member of the Supervisory Board of the Cooperation Fund Foundation.  H.E. Mr. Tomasz Mlynarskispecialises in the issues of European integration, energy security and foreign policy, and has given numerous scientific lectures.

H.E. Mr. Igor Slobodnik was appointed Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to London in 1997.  In 2001, he became Director General of Political Affairs at the Ministry of Defence and then, in 2008, Director General of Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  He became Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in 2015, and in 2016 he was responsible for the Near and Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa Division.  He was also Ambassador to Berlin and Brussels.

H.E. Ms. Jane Coombs was appointed Economic Advisor in 1999, then Deputy Director of the Environment Division in 2003.  She was successively promoted to Ambassador of New Zealand to Seoul in 2005 and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy in Washington, D. C. in 2009.  She held the post of Director General of the Americas Division from 2012 onwards, and the North-East Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade from 2015.
