Football Match – Monaco Civil Service/EURECOM Students

On Saturday 25 March, a friendly football match took place at the Biot stadium between a team from the Monegasque civil service and EURECOM students.  This meeting was part of activities linked to the sponsorship of the 2017 intake by Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development. At the end of the match, which was keenly contested but with fair play, the Monegasque team won with a score of 6 to 5.  The return match is due to be scheduled soon.

As a reminder, EURECOM was founded in 1991 in the form of an EIG and is located in the Sophia Antipolis Science Park.  EURECOM is an internationally recognised engineering school.  It brings together academic partners, for example the Mines Telecom Institute and companies such as Orange, ST Microelectronics, BMW, IABG and Symantec.  Teaching and research activities are centred on three areas - digital security, communication systems and Data Science.

The Government of Monaco has been an institutional member of EURECOM since January 2013, through its National Financing Company (Société Nationale de Financement) (SNF).  At first, the partnership focused on digital security for the web and networks, in cooperation with Monaco Telecom, which is also a member of the Institute.

Today, while continuing this cooperation in the field of security, EURECOM is supporting the Government in developing a Smart City project based on practical action with regard to mobility and the deployment of high-performance infrastructure to facilitate innovation.  The Institute is also involved in cooperation between the Government and the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis with the aim of building a mobility laboratory in association with other members of the Institute, such as Orange and Monaco Telecom.
