Tourism is closely linked to the history, economy, and influence of the Principality of Monaco. Therefore, the Prince's Government, following the road maps set by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, is backing this priority sector with ambitious support and investment.
The Tourist and Convention Authority (DTC) coordinates the sector, aiming to contribute to Monaco’s growth directly or indirectly, through the development of high-quality, responsible tourism. The challenge is a vital one, given that tourism accounts for 11% of all revenue generated in Monaco and 18.5% of jobs. To ensure the industry remains aligned with the very highest global standards, the DTC relies on the expertise of its teams and a network of representative offices around the world.
Drawing on its heritage as a pioneer of luxury tourism and its unique expertise, Monaco is today home to thirteen hotels, rated from two to five stars. Thanks to a successful proactive policy, the country has also built a thriving MICE tourism trade and boasts the Grimaldi Forum, a world-class congress centre that regularly hosts major business and cultural events, plus a number of other conference centres. Business events account for more than 25% of all hotel stays in the Principality.
Whether visiting for business or pleasure, the tourists who have made Monaco the world’s top destination for luxury travel are drawn by its exceptional safety, outstanding infrastructure, and strong values that effortlessly blend work, relaxation, and environmental responsibility.
