For many years, the Prince's Government has strived to support disabled people through clear objectives to facilitate their independence, break down barriers, and meet their care needs while maintaining their dignity.
Several schemes have been developed to help people with disabilities:
- Apartments have been designed to enable everyone to remain in their own home
- A quota of adapted public apartments is included in each new development
- Services such as cleaning and home help are also available
- Financial assistance programs
Ensuring accessibility to public buildings and amenities:
- Accessibility to urban facilities and transport
- Access to cultural and sporting facilities
The Prince's Government has also developed the "Handipact" programme, aimed at all members of society and designed to enable everyone to be "Prepared". Prepared to receive, welcome, understand, recruit, educate, train and include people with disabilities.
The National Plan for disability inclusion involves nine main action areas:
- Raising public awareness of all types of disability
- Education and training
- Employment and working life
- Housing and construction
- Mobility and accessibility
- Support and care
- Access to sport, culture, and leisure activities
- Spreading the word about what is available and what is being launched to help people with disabilities
- International recognition
