In conjunction with the programmes on offer from the leading cultural institutions, the Prince's Government entrusts the Department of Cultural Affairs to organise a variety of events aimed at a wide audience, including the European Heritage Day, performances at the Fort Antoine Theatre, International Organ Festival, exhibitions held at Exhibition Hall on Quai Antoine I, Baroque Music Concerts, all supported by an affordable pricing policy.

A varied and accessible diverse of cultural events

In conjunction with the programmes on offer from the leading cultural institutions, the Prince's Government entrusts the Department of Cultural Affairs to organise a variety of events aimed at a wide audience, including the European Heritage Day, performances at the Fort Antoine Theatre, International Organ Festival, exhibitions held at Exhibition Hall on Quai Antoine I, Baroque Music Concerts, all supported by an affordable pricing policy.

Art education

The Department of Cultural Affairs has devised a youth culture policy with the aim of supporting young people in their exposure to culture and broadening their knowledge in this area by encouraging exchanges and discoveries in the arts.

Numerous initiatives in place to improve access to culture for young audiences are supported by the Prince's Government, including the implementation of an annual cultural and artistic awareness programme for schoolchildren in the Principality, organised with various Monegasque cultural institutions and in collaboration with the Department of Education, Youth and Sport.

Similarly, cultural practices are encouraged.

Artistic education provided at theThe Pavillon Bosio - Monaco Art School and the Rainier III Academy of Music and Theatre, recognised by France as an institute of higher artistic education and a departmental conservatoire influence, respectively, offer diploma courses in addition to classes open to young people and adults wishing to learn an artistic discipline on a recreational basis.

The Princess Grace Dance Academy trains young dancers from all over the world through a teaching programme which strikes a balance between schoolwork and artistic education. The Academy, which encourages collaborations with the Principality’s cultural institutions and prepares students for a demanding career, trains young dancers who, following their education, go on to join the most prestigious international dance companies.

Support for artists and cultural associations

Several administrative and promotional support measures have been implemented by the Prince's Government, with the Department of Cultural Affairs entrusted with its management.

Cultural associations can take advantage of an annual operating grant, thanks to the Department of Cultural Affairs, which supports and encourages their activities throughout the year. The Department of Cultural Affairs also provides these associations with free access to well-maintained cultural facilities (theatres, exhibition spaces), enabling them to showcase their repertoire and reach new audiences.

Thanks to support from the State, Monegasque associations and amateur or professional Monegasque and resident artists may be eligible for funding to carry out a cultural project, subject to certain conditions. This financial aid supplements contributions made by the project leaders.

The Act on Support for Professional Artists no. 1.360 of 4 July 2009 sets out a legislative framework enabling artists to pursue their activity on a self-employed basis and to benefit from a certain amount of support. The status of Occasional Artist is intended for those who carry out an artistic activity alongside their main occupation.

Every two years, the Department of Cultural Affairs holds the Artists' Forum. This event provides an opportunity for professional and amateur artists to exhibit their work and meet their audience.

In addition, the Annuaire des Artistes de Monaco showcases Monaco's artists, associations, and cultural institutions, providing details of their careers, works and activities while sharing their latest news.
