Buildings adjacent to the former Charles III Secondary School evacuated as a precautionary measure
Following an analysis of the indicators at its disposal and as a precautionary measure, the Prince’s Government has informed the residents of the buildings adjacent to the former Charles III Secondary School building (Virginia Palace and Point du Jour) of an immediate evacuation order, pending the results of the slope stabilisation works located above the site.

In coordination with the French authorities (for the upper section of the slope situated within the municipality of Beausoleil), the crisis unit set up to manage the situation has activated arrangements to support the residents. By 6.00 p.m. at the latest, all affected residents, who are currently being accommodated in a hotel in the Principality, will have been settled. Those who so wish will be able to dine there this evening for Christmas Eve, as well as tomorrow for Christmas lunch.
The first effects of the works currently under way are expected to be known from 26 December onwards, at which point the situation will be reassessed.
In the meantime, and with effect from today, the traffic lane on Avenue de l’Annonciade in the section adjacent to the former secondary school will be closed.
In addition, studies are currently being finalised to identify a site that will temporarily accommodate students from Lycée Albert Ier, whose return to classes in remote learning will be only provisional. Further details will be communicated at the beginning of next week.
In this context, the Prince’s Government reiterates that no risk can be taken with regard to the safety of students, teachers and staff working on the premises, or of the associations that use the school’s facilities, nor with regard to the residents of the buildings adjacent to the former secondary school.
The Government and the relevant administrative services are doing everything possible to minimise the inconvenience caused by these precautionary measures.
