The exhibition “Voyage au fil du timbre” brings together a remarkable selection of more than 180 postage stamps, alongside a particularly rare postal document dating from 1870, kindly loaned by the Prince’s Palace. Hosted by the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies, the Principality’s Museum of Philately and Coinage in Fontvieille, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time and space, tracing the major revolutions in transport that have reshaped our societies.

From early messengers travelling on foot or horseback to today’s most advanced technologies, it shows the ingenuity behind humanity’s constant effort to push the boundaries of distance, speed, and communication.

Each of these philatelic pieces is a fragment of history in its own right, illustrating how transport has evolved over time and how those changes have transformed the movement of ideas, the growth of trade, and the way people interact with one another.

A dedicated section focuses on the development of road and racing cars. Through a selection of iconic models, it charts the technical and stylistic evolution of these vehicles from their origins to the present day, reflecting the eternal fascination with speed, performance, and the spirit of independence embodied by motor racing.

As visitors move through the exhibition, they will discover how the history of transport is told by stamps, from a cultural, technical, and artistic perspective. Explore, imagine, and embark on a unique journey. The exhibition runs until 27 September 2026 at the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies.
