Monaco reaffirms at the United Nations its commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS
At the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS, held in New York on 22 and 23 June 2026, Daphné Le Son, Deputy Permanent Representative of Monaco to the United Nations, addressed the General Debate on behalf of the Principality.

Reaffirming the Principality's long-standing commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS, Ms Le Son recalled that Monaco has supported UNAIDS for almost twenty years and recently increased its voluntary contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. She also highlighted the essential role played by community-based organisations, whose close engagement with local communities and expertise are invaluable in developing responses tailored to local realities.
She stressed the importance of preserving a human rights-based approach and recalled that discrimination, stigma and gender-based violence continue to hinder access to prevention, testing and treatment for people living with HIV and those populations most at risk.
Monaco therefore reaffirmed its full support for the recommendations of the United Nations Secretary-General and its commitment to continue working alongside its partners to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, in line with the objective set by the international community.
