Coordination and Monitoring Committee for the National Strategy to Combat Money Laundering
The members of the first College of the Coordination and Monitoring Committee for the national strategy to combat money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, as well as corruption, met on Thursday 7 May under the chairmanship of the Minister of State.
On this occasion, Mr Christophe MIRMAND, Minister of State, referred to the progress achieved by the Services and Authorities since the adoption of the Principality’s third progress report at the latest FATF plenary meeting held last February, as well as to the ongoing and forthcoming discussions relating to Monaco’s fourth report.
The Minister of State praised the commitment of the teams and the full range of achievements delivered since the beginning of the FATF follow-up process. In this regard, he wished to thank Mr Pierre-André CHIAPPORI, Minister of Finance and Economy, for his commitment in the service of the Principality. He also welcomed his successor, Mr Frédéric COTTALORDA, underlining the importance of continuity and of maintaining the same renewed ambition.
During the meeting, participants were once again reminded of the work that must continue beyond the objective of Monaco’s removal from the FATF grey list, in preparation for the Principality’s future evaluation by the MONEYVAL Committee.
This work includes the comprehensive review of the legislative and regulatory framework relating to anti-money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, as well as corruption, the third national risk assessment, and the regular collection and analysis of statistical data.
The Minister of State also recalled that the progress already achieved and recognised by FATF bodies forms part of a broader dynamic aimed at ensuring Monaco’s long-term compliance with the highest international standards.
In this context, the Minister of State reiterated the importance of maintaining collective commitment.
