Department of Cultural Affairs - Photo contest - “Heritage at Risk” - For ages 11–25 - Entries open until 15 March 2026

The Department of Cultural Affairs is organising the second edition of its photography competition for young people aged 11 to 25, on the theme “Heritage at Risk”, in line with the 2026 European Heritage Days theme.
The theme highlights the threats facing our tangible cultural heritage (such as works of art and furnishings, architecture, written and graphic works, built landscapes, gardens and archaeological sites) and intangible cultural heritage (including traditions, language, performing arts, rituals and festive events, traditional crafts and gastronomy). These threats include climate change, natural disasters, societal change, urban development and mass tourism. Participants are invited to reflect on what Monaco’s cultural heritage represents to them and to consider ways of preserving it.
This second edition continues the Department’s commitment to engaging young people in the preservation of Monegasque heritage and to promoting the artistic expression of the Principality’s youth.
An expert jury comprising Stéphane Bern, a leading figure in heritage promotion, the internationally renowned photographer and documentary filmmaker Nick Danziger, as well as several personalities from Monaco’s cultural sphere, will select 15 photographs from among the entries and award prizes to three photographers, one in each of the following age categories: 11–14, 15–18 and 19–25.
Particular attention will be paid to the artistic quality of the submitted photographs, as well as to the depth of reflection on the theme of heritage at risk.
The selected photographs will be exhibited on the railings of the Saint-Martin Gardens from April to October 2026.
The competition is open to young people aged 11 to 25 who are Monegasque nationals, residents, students in the Principality, or working in Monaco.
- Entries must be submitted by 15 March 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Further details and registration:
