Escape game for 15–16 year olds highlights risks of partying
As part of the Prince’s Government’s health prevention policy, an escape game highlighting the risks associated with partying is being offered to all pupils in Year 11 (Seconde) – nearly 490 teenagers – at state schools and private schools operating under contract in the Principality of Monaco.
The health prevention initiative, which is running until 27 March 2026, was designed by the Nice organisation G – Addiction Jeunesse Citoyenne and aims to reduce risky behaviours among young people and promote their physical, mental and social wellbeing. It has been organised by the Department of Education, Youth and Sport with support from the Monegasque organisations Fight Aids Monaco, Be Safe Monaco and the Monaco Red Cross.
Immersive experience: an alternative approach to raising awareness
Using a fun, educational tool, this unique approach teaches pupils about the dangers associated with risky behaviours when partying, including the consumption of psychoactive substances (alcohol, drugs, etc.).
Fundamentally, the experience requires the young people to work together in order to complete an immersive quest which takes them through four specially designed, realistic settings: a police station, a student apartment, a nightclub and the scene of a road traffic accident.
Expanding knowledge and encouraging responsible behaviours
By solving puzzles and finding concrete evidence – some of which includes prevention
tools – pupils:
- become aware of the dangers of certain behaviours while partying;
- learn about prevention tools that promote responsible behaviours;
- gain a better understanding of the associations and organisations working in the field of health prevention in Monaco: Fight Aids Monaco, Be Safe Monaco and the Monaco Red Cross;
- identify the responsible alternatives available in the Principality to reduce risky behaviours;
- reflect on the concept of consent and behaviours that promote healthy emotional and sexual relationships;
- improve their knowledge of lifesaving skills and road safety rules;
- learn about the importance of giving blood.
Each class will have their own escape game session lasting approximately one hour,
ensuring that all pupils have the opportunity to participate in this immersive educational experience.
This initiative is a further demonstration of the Prince’s Government’s commitment to youth health
prevention and promotion in the Principality.
