Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026: Digital Platforms and Resources Department to ensure secure wireless communications

The Digital Platforms and Resources Department is working with the National Frequency Agency (ANFR) to put in place the technical and human measures that will ensure the smooth operation of wireless communications for the duration of the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026. 

In a high-demand environment, with requirements coming from the organisers, teams, media, private companies and security services, the Digital Platforms and Resources Department is carefully managing the band plan to prevent any interference that might impact the safety of drivers or spectators, undermine the work of the emergency services or disrupt media coverage.

For the 2026 Grand Prix, 750 frequencies have been allocated for use by walkie-talkies, microphones, cameras and data transmission, and the Department is coordinating 32 service providers. Ahead of the event, specialist monitoring and oversight tools were used to carry out thorough preparations, enabling a detailed analysis of the frequencies involved and allowing potential interference to be predicted. During the Grand Prix, five Department officials, alongside three experts from ANFR, will be working on site from 4 to 7 June to monitor the spectrum, guard against any potential for interference and detect any unregistered networks. 

This effort is part of a broader schedule of sporting events requiring close coordination of wireless communications:
•    Historic Grand Prix (24 to 26 April): Digital Platforms and Resources Department on call, 50 frequencies allocated, coordination of 4 service providers, no incidents reported;
•    Monaco E-Prix (16 to 17 May): Digital Platforms and Resources Department on call, 200 frequencies allocated, coordination of 2 service providers, no incidents reported;
•    E1 Series – electric boats (17 to 18 July): Digital Platforms and Resources Department on call, 50 frequencies allocated, coordination of 2 service providers;
•    Vuelta 2026 (22 August): three Department officials working on site alongside three experts from ANFR, with coordination between Monaco, France and Spain to manage roaming of 100 frequencies for use by microphones, cameras and data transmission.
The efforts of the Digital Platforms and Resources Department are helping to ensure the smooth technical and operational running of major events hosted in the Principality, in a high-density wireless environment.
