Handiplage opens for the 2026 season at Larvotto Beach

The Prince’s Government officially opened the 2026 Handiplage season at Larvotto Beach on Thursday 2 July. The service is part of the Government's ongoing policy of improving accessibility for people with disabilities.

Open to both independent users and those who require assistance, Handiplage enables people with disabilities to enjoy swimming in a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment.

The scheme has been running in Monaco for more than 20 years. It was originally launched by the Soroptimist Club and is now managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services, which coordinates a team of six trained beach assistants.

The site is open from 29 June to 30 August, with facilities including four ‘Tiralo’ amphibious beach chairs, an accessible shower with a seat, and two specially adapted sun loungers giving users greater comfort and independence. Opening hours are 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 7 pm at weekends. Users can also request a complimentary three-hour parking pass.

The new season reflects the Prince’s Government's continued commitment to making Monaco more accessible and ensuring that people with disabilities receive an inclusive welcome.
