Monaco et la République de Maurice établissent des relations diplomatiques

On 25 August 2026, the Principality of Monaco and the Republic of Mauritius formally established diplomatic relations with the signing of a joint communiqué by their respective Permanent Representatives to the United Nations in New York, H.E. Ms Isabelle Picco and H.E. Mr Milan J. N. Meetarbhan.

The Republic of Mauritius, a small island state in the Indian Ocean, has made protecting the local marine environment a priority, with an ambitious blue economy policy and a national sustainable development strategy. This approach, which seeks to combine economic growth with ocean ecosystem conservation, is also one that Monaco has pursued for many years.

Following the signing, the two Permanent Representatives discussed several areas of shared interest, including environmental protection, sustainable tourism, and education, and agreed to explore ways of strengthening cooperation in these areas.
