Mr Christophe Robino, Minister of Health and Social Affairs headed the Monegasque delegation at the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA) held in Geneva from 18 to 23 May 2026. He was accompanied by H.E. Ms Carole Lanteri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
This year’s general debate focused on “Reshaping global health: a shared responsibility”. As an unprecedented number of conflicts tests the foundations of the international order, Mr Robino stressed the need for an ambitious reform of the World Health Organization (WHO). The Minister said it should be able to provide a clearer, more effective, and more impactful response to people’s needs.
He also reaffirmed the Principality’s unwavering commitment to the WHO and to multilateral cooperation.
During the Assembly, representatives from Monaco spoke on a range of priority issues, including public health emergencies, the role of health in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, and mental health.
The delegation also took part in several side events, including a session on young people’s mental health in the age of social media, helping to inform the Prince’s Government’s thinking on this important issue.
