Red September: Monaco joins the fight against blood cancers

To mark the fifth edition of "Red September", a month dedicated to raising awareness of blood cancers, the Prince's Government is lending its support to this public health initiative.

As a visible sign of support, the Prince's Palace will be illuminated in red on 1 September.

Blood cancers, also known as haematological cancers, include leukaemias, lymphomas and myelomas. Often poorly understood and sometimes invisible, these diseases encompass a wide range of conditions.

Red September provides an opportunity to raise awareness and understanding of these diseases and to highlight the importance of donating blood, platelets and, in particular, bone marrow, as bone marrow transplantation is one of the most effective treatment options when it is possible.

Through its support for this initiative, the Prince's Government reaffirms its commitment to the prevention and screening of communicable and noncommunicable diseases, which are central to its public health policy, in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
