The Fire & Emergency Service - Helmet Presentation Ceremony for Nine New Recruits

On Monday 29 June, members of The Fire & Emergency Service gathered in Place du Campanin for the ceremonial presentation of operational helmets to nine new recruits.

Held under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Maxime Yvrard, Chief Fire Officer, the ceremony took place in the presence of Mr Lionel Beffre, Minister of the Interior, Colonel Tony Varo, Commander-in-Chief of the Force Publique, Lieutenant Colonel Martial Pied, Chief of the Prince's Carabinieri, and Father Dominique Arz, who blessed the helmets.

Recruited in 2026, the young firefighters belong to the "Corporal Vivent Bruyère" intake, named in tribute to a serviceman who joined the Corps on 6 October 1975 and lost his life in the line of duty on 22 June 1991, at the age of 37. The ceremony was attended by his family as well as by the families of the new recruits.

Following five months of training, they have acquired the skills required to carry out their future duties: emergency response, firefighting, road traffic rescue, specialist operations, emergency vehicle driving, risk prevention, and the protection of people, property and the environment, complemented by comprehensive military and physical training. Their training also included exercises conducted at the training facilities of partner organisations, together with numerous operational drills carried out in the Principality.

The presentation of the operational helmet marks their full integration into The Fire & Emergency Service. This solemn gesture symbolises their commitment, their membership of the Corps and the bond of fraternity that now unites them with their fellow firefighters, alongside whom they will carry out missions to protect and safeguard people and property, both in the Principality and in the neighbouring municipalities.

They will henceforth uphold the Corps' motto: "Courage – Dedication – Sacrifice".
