7 days to go before the 4th Monaco Job Forum

The Monaco Job Forum, the Principality’s flagship event for recruitment and career opportunities organised by the Prince’s Government, will return to the Grimaldi Forum on Friday, 6 February 2026 for its 4th edition.

Keen to balance the economic development of its territory with the well-being of its community, the Principality of Monaco has developed a social protection system tailored to all career situations and at all stages of professional life.

The Monegasque labor market is governed by Law No. 629 of July 17 1957 that regulates hiring and dismissal conditions. This text provides, in particular, for a system of prior authorisation for employment, as well as the issuance of work permits. It thus contributes to ensuring rigorous and transparent management of the labour market in accordance with national priorities and the needs of businesses.

Moreover, the Labour Inspectorate is pivotal in facilitating employees' career progression in optimal conditions.  To this end, it ensures compliance with labour laws and regulations, monitors health and safety conditions in the workplace, and works to prevent occupational risks and accidents. It also intervenes in the prevention, mediation, and arbitration of individual or collective labour disputes where necessary.

Furthermore, in order to facilitate the recruitment process, the Government has set up a dedicated portal for employers. On this portal, employers can post their job offers, and the Employment Service can present priority candidates registered on its lists who meet the recruitment conditions. To this end, and to support employers whose needs have not been met by priority candidates, the government has launched an online job posting service in 2024 to make job offers public and accessible to all.

At the same time, job seekers receive structured, tailored support throughout their journey towards employment. This support is based on a comprehensive range of information, guidance and placement services, complemented by individualised assistance and personalised follow-up to promote a sustainable return to work and an optimal match between candidates' profiles and the needs of the Monegasque labour market.

With this in mind, in 1999, the Labour Department and the Employment Office set up a Youth Employment Unit specifically designed to support young people in their efforts to find employment, internships, work-study programmes or student jobs. It was followed in 2010 by a new unit dedicated to Monegasques, their spouses and other job seekers born and always resident in the Principality of Monaco n created to provide a targeted response to the integration challenges faced by these priority groups.

Under the chairmanship of the Minister of State, the Committee for Graduate Employment, was created in February 2010 (see Ministerial Decree No. 2010-77) and placed under the authority of the Minister of Health and Social Affairs and Health. Its aim is to promote the integration of Monegasque graduates or those with ties to the Principality into the Monegasque economic fabric. Since then, the Committee for Graduate Employment has sought to build connection between students and graduates of higher education and the Monegasque business world, to help young graduates find employment and  facilitate the repatriation of expatriate graduates to the Principality.

Since 2023, the Prince's Government has been organising aforum called “Monaco pour l'Emploi”, a unifying event bringing together job seekers, recruiters from Monegasque companies and employment experts in the Principality in one place. This forum provides an ideal opportunity for discussion and networking, enabling participants to discuss career paths and prospects, analyse labour market trends and gain a better understanding of the specific employment conditions in Monaco.

Finally, the same requirement for personalized support applies to beneficiaries of the social security system, provided by the “Caisses Sociales de Monaco” (Monaco Social Security Funds). These refer to the compulsory social security schemes for employees and self-employed workers in the Principality: "Caisse de Compensation des Services Sociaux" (CCSS - Social Services Compensation Fund), "Caisse Autonome des Retraites" (CAR - Autonomous Pension Fund), "Caisse d’Assurance Maladie, Accident et Maternité des Travailleurs Indépendants" (CAMTI - Health, Accident and Maternity Insurance Fund for Self-Employed Workers) et "Caisse Autonome des Retraites des Travailleurs Indépendants" (CARTI - Autonomous Pension Fund for Self-Employed Workers).

These schemes are managed by four separate private-law bodies, all established by law and entrusted with a public service mission, with shared administrative and accounting departments.
