Police Department New Year Address

The Ministry of Interior is responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of life for everyone, particularly during public events. Safeguarding measures include ensuring that organisers of the many events held in Monaco comply with safety standards and limit the environmental impact.

Restrictions on the opening hours of certain events may be imposed, along with other necessary measures to guarantee that events run smoothly. There are several entities involved in fulfilling these duties.

The Technical Commission for Hygiene, Security and Environmental Protection ensures that establishments are compliant with the standards applicable to public amenities.

The Police Department is involved in all public events that may get out of hands or draw large crowds (sporting events, commercial activities, or high-profile events). They help to safeguard spectators and property in cooperation with the event organisers and other bodies (Fire and Emergency Service, Monaco Red Cross, health services, etc.).

Public activity is monitored by a sophisticated video surveillance system and by the highly responsive police officers in charge of traffic control.

The Palace Guards, the second military unit attached to the Monegasque Military Force, are also on duty to support the emergency services in place to respond to any risks associated with certain events.

Last but not least, the Marine and Airport Police Division provides regular support for the safety of sailing events held in the Principality.
