The Department of the Environment carries out programmes to survey and monitor wildlife on land and at sea.
These initiatives help improve knowledge of the state of natural habitats and support the introduction of measures to protect biodiversity. To share this knowledge more widely, a series of educational panels has been produced and made available to the public.
