Guide to designing eco-friendly marine infrastructures

This guide has been produced as part of Monaco’s National Biodiversity Strategy (SNB), and aims to ensure that biodiversity is treated as an essential part of the Principality’s living environment by 2030. It is part of an ambitious effort to "renature" the Principality, strengthen its ecological resilience, and promote better coexistence between residents, wildlife and plants, both on land and at sea.

Designed for public authorities, consultancies, construction companies, and members of the public, the guide takes a practical approach focusing on four key themes:

  1. The strategic importance of marine eco-design and why it is vital for the future
  2. The eco-design process and the main steps involved
  3. Practical application: designing infrastructure specifically for Monaco’s unique environment
  4. A summary with a map showing proposed future developments

By leveraging nature-based solutions, Monaco aims to set the global standard for marine eco-design, combining innovation with environmental conservation.
