W3E Quiz Booklet and Answers – SERD 2025
W3E – Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment include all devices that operate using electricity or an electromagnetic field once they have reached the end of their life cycle.
They range from refrigerators to mobile phones, including washing machines, game consoles, and kettles.
These types of waste are hazardous because each device contains a mix of valuable materials (gold, copper, aluminum, etc.) and toxic substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, flame retardants).
When released into the environment, these substances can contaminate soil and water for decades and may cause neurological disorders, respiratory diseases, and cancers. In addition, their manufacturing process is extremely energy-intensive.
Simple and effective solutions exist to help preserve your electrical and electronic equipment and extend their lifespan.
