New, fully digital Nuclear Medicine Department officially opened at Princess Grace Hospital
The new Nuclear Medicine Department was officially opened by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince on Monday 28 September. H.E. the Minister of State, Pierre Dartout, President of the National Council Stéphane Valeri, Minister of Health and Social Affairs Didier Gamerdinger, Chair of the Princess Grace Hospital Board of Directors André Garino, Director of Princess Grace Hospital Benoîte de Sevelinges, Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department Professor Marc Farragi and a number of other dignitaries were all in attendance.
The establishment of this high-performance Nuclear Medicine Department following three years of work is part of a regional treatment strategy. The new technical facilities offer increasingly sensitive detection equipment and increasingly high resolution, making it possible to both scan and treat more conditions.
The investment, totalling €8.2 million, was supported by the Prince’s Government as well as private donations made by the Tabor Foundation to the Friends of Princess Grace Hospital Foundation.
For patients, this offers a genuine benefit in that all nuclear medicine scans are now available at Princess Grace Hospital, with fully digital care thanks to a nuclear cardiology unit and two new, latest-generation positron emission tomography (PET) scanners featuring unparalleled image quality.
