Monaco’s Tourist and Convention Authority held a gourmet lunch in Paris on Monday 8 October, based around the theme “Green Is the New Glam”. The event was attended by Alain Ducasse and held on the Michelin-starred chef’s new restaurant aboard a fully electric-powered boat, known as Ducasse sur Seine.

Responsible tourism has been a priority for the Authority for a number of years, and was given a further boost in 2018 with its “Green Is the New Glam” campaign. This quiet, eco-friendly, gourmet cruise on the Ducasse sur Seine provided an opportunity to present to around 40 business tourism clients and journalists some of those in the Principality who are working to create a more responsible destination.

The Tourist and Convention Authority’s 2018 “Green Is the New Glam” campaign aims to solidify Monaco’s position as a responsible tourism destination. Among other things, the campaign includes a series of five short videos which have been shared primarily via social media (https://youtu.be/tU1CqyFvoSQ ).

The Monegasque delegation, led by Laurence Papouchado, Deputy Director of the Convention Bureau, and Valérie Tomatis-Nouailhac, Deputy Director of the Tourist and Convention Authority’s Press and Communications Department, included:

- Jessica Sbaraglia: from Terre de Monaco, an urban organic farmer who has installed organic kitchen gardens, orchards, beehives and henhouses on building roofs and in private gardens in the Principality.

- Philip Culazzo: from Orangerie de Monaco, which produces a 100% Monegasque artisan liqueur made from unprocessed bitter oranges picked from the trees that line the streets of the Principality.

The museum recently opened a new space called “Monaco and the Ocean: From Exploration to Protection”, which tells the story of the Princes of Monaco’s commitment to protecting the marine world. In addition, during the first half of 2019, the museum will be home to a centre caring for sea turtles. Comprising a clinic and a convalescence tank, the centre will be open to the public.
