Smart Mobility at the Service of Users

On Wednesday, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister for Environmental Affairs, Public Works and Urban Planning (DEEU), and Frédéric Genta, Country Chief Digital Officer (DITN), received the press to discuss recent developments in "smart mobility" for users in the Principality and the future tools and resources being developed jointly by their staff.

They were accompanied by Cyril Gomez, Director General of the DEEU and Smart City Coordinator for this Ministry, and Georges Gambarini, Head of the Smart City Programme at the Smart Nation Department.

In her introduction, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia recalled the Government's ambitions with regard to mobility;  the aim is to reduce car traffic by 20% by 2030, "With a target of 23,000 fewer vehicles/day, we would go back to the level reached in the 1990s.  This involves the implementation of infrastructure such as strengthening rail services, developing reserved public transport lanes, the cable car project from the future car park at the western entrance to the Principality, as well as the maritime shuttle project.  At the same time, we are equipping ourselves with tools whose objective is to make it easier for everyone to travel in Monaco, tools that offer customised mobility in terms of timing, requirements and constraints.  It's complete freedom to choose the way you travel!"

For his part, Frédéric Genta welcomed this collaboration to promote a successful mobility scheme.  "Everyone has digital technology in their pocket;  that's its great strength when it comes to reaching the entire population, helping people to move around and inform them in real time.  That's why, as part of the #ExtendedMonaco programme, we are currently creating strategic partnerships with CityMapper, and will do so in the future with Waze.  This approach, which consists of offering personalised transport solutions in real time, is beneficial in three ways:  it guides users and therefore contributes to a better quality of life, it makes travel easier and journeys more pleasant, for example an improved experience when using buses, thanks to the new connected shelters.  The components of digital technology have therefore enriched infrastructure facilities, at the service of the population."

In the attachment, you can find out about the main mobility tools and services that have been implemented, as well as future developments in this regard.
