Following an Accidental Organic Pollution Incident that Occurred Today : Swimming is Prohibited until Further Notice in the Principality on the Beaches of Larvotto and the Solarium on the Sea Wall

Monaco flags, Larvotto beach.

On Monday, 1 July, the red flag was hoisted on the beaches of Larvotto, following an accidental organic pollution incident.  This ban on swimming, which will remain in place until further notice, also applies to the Solarium on the Sea Wall.

A human handling error led to the overflow of a wastewater drain into the Larvotto storm water drain, which explains this discharge at sea and pollution.

The Public Authorities have undertaken a water analysis.  Pending the results of this analysis, the Authorities have decided to prohibit swimming. Updated information is expected during the day tomorrow (Tuesday).
