COVID-19: 16 new positive cases and 7 recoveries on Saturday 2 January

Sixteen new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Saturday.

This brings the Principality’s total coronavirus cases since the beginning of the health crisis to 901.

This evening, 20 patients are being treated at Princess Grace Hospital, three of whom, including two residents, are in intensive care. Six of the other 17 patients in hospital are also residents.

Seven further recoveries have been reported today, bringing the total number of people who have so far recovered to 725.

This Saturday evening, 108 people are being monitored by the Home Patient Follow-Up Centre, which offers medical support to those with minor symptoms who are asked to self-isolate at home.

The Prince’s Government has been informed that a female resident aged 92, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week and was hospitalised, has sadly died at Princess Grace Hospital tonight.

In this period of sorrow for the Principality, the Government’s thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this difficult time, and it assures them of its support.

In accordance with the practices adopted by the World Health Organization and neighbouring countries in this area, this daily update reports coronavirus cases among residents only.
