COVID-19: 23 new positive cases and 21 recoveries on Friday 8 January

Twenty-three new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported on Friday 8 January.

This brings the Principality’s total coronavirus cases since the beginning of the health crisis to 1,041.

This evening, 26 patients are being treated at Princess Grace Hospital, eight of whom, including five residents, are in intensive care. Ten of the other 18 patients in hospital are also residents.

We also regret to announce the death of an 82-year-old patient who was a resident of the Principality during the night of 6–7 January. In this moment of sorrow, the Prince’s Government would like to express its sincerest condolences to her family and friends, and offers its deepest sympathies in these difficult circumstances.

Twenty-one further recoveries have been reported today, bringing the total number of people who have so far recovered to 814.

This Friday evening, 145 people are being monitored by the Home Patient Follow-Up Centre, which offers medical support to those with minor symptoms who are asked to self-isolate at home.

In accordance with the practices adopted by the World Health Organization and neighbouring countries in this area, this daily update reports coronavirus cases among residents only.
