Tourism promotional event in UAE

The Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority recently held a promotional event in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, aimed at various tourism intermediaries operating in the Middle Eastern markets.

The event sought to promote the Principality’s five-star hotels in key markets.

The Authority was represented by Sandrine Camia, Deputy Director, and Laurence Aquilina, Head of Development. The Monegasque delegation also included representatives from SBM Monte-Carlo and the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo.

The Tourist and Convention Authority worked with the Escales group, which is well-known on the Côte d’Azur, to gather a group of very high-level guests from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and, naturally, the United Arab Emirates.

Close collaboration with the Monaco Pavilion delivered the first highlight, with the group afforded an opportunity to discover the Principality’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai under the best possible conditions. This mean they were able to appreciate the sometimes striking gap between their idea of Monaco and the reality of contemporary change in the country.

After dining in the VIP space at the Monaco Pavilion, participants were also able to extend their visit to Expo 2020 and enjoy exclusive private tours of some of the other pavilions.

In a second moment that will be long remembered, the following day, in association with Amber Lounge, all participants had the chance to attend the conclusion of the Formula 1 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Beforehand, they met former driver and Monegasque resident David Coulthard, who shared his experience of the race.

The event provided an opportunity to discuss the Principality’s changing tourist offer and to boost the links between industry stakeholders in the Middle East and Monaco. Bookings for future stays have already been made.

Context permitting, in 2022 the Tourist and Convention Authority will continue to organise events for all Monegasque tourism partners in this priority market.
