Alerte EcoWatt mardi 19 janvier, entre 18h et 20h

Since yesterday, the Provence Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region (PACA) has been experiencing temperatures of almost 5 degrees below the seasonal norm.  In this context, the Electricity Transport Network (RTE) has forecasted "very high" electricity consumption for today, in excess of 7,500 MW.   The partners of ÉcoWatt PACA are calling upon inhabitants of the region to use the "Eco'Gestes" electricity saving tips to limit the extent of this peak in consumption.

Faced with this exceptional situation, the Prince's Government and the SMEG are calling upon all consumers in Monaco to reduce their electricity consumption between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to help ensure that the peaks of consumption forecasted for the region pass without incident.

The Principality of Monaco joined the Electricity Transport Network's (RTE's) initiative to implement the "EcoWatt PACA" web site, which enables users to follow the state of the electricity network in the east of the PACA region in real time.  It also invites each of us to take steps to ensure the most efficient energy consumption.

The www.ecowatt-paca.fr  web site is part of an approach that aims to raise the awareness of private individuals, businesses and local authorities of the need to limit their energy consumption in peak periods between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in winter and during cold spells.  EcoWatt PACA is based on a participatory approach.

A few simple tips for reducing electricity consumption:

  • Switch off the lights in unoccupied rooms
  • Lower the electric heating by 1 or 2°C and switch it off in unoccupied rooms as far as possible
  • Switch off electrical appliances on standby at home and at work (such as the TV, DVD player, HiFi, computers, printers, etc.)
  • Limit or postpone the use of electrical household appliances (such as the washing machine, dishwasher, cooking appliances and electric water heaters).
