Measures to manage energy consumption in the Principality

Building on its commitment to the fight against climate warming, the Prince’s Government would like to remind you how important it is to adopt good habits to reduce your energy consumption. Follow our advice on doing something to help the environment, and learn more about the financial assistance available to you.

ECO-FRIENDLY HABITS TO ADOPT

  • Do not use heating, air conditioning or cooling systems in open spaces (terraces, refrigerated sales areas, shops, etc.)
  • Set your thermostats as close as possible as possible according to the context; 19°C (+3 maximum) in winter and 25°C (with a range of 1°C) in summer
  • Switch off lights and adjust air conditioning and heating controls in unoccupied spaces (at night and over the weekend in shops and offices, at home if you are away for a long period)
  • Avoid using additional heaters in offices and homes connected to a district heating system
  • Switch off appliances on standby (these account for 10% of household electricity consumption) using switch sockets or extension sockets with switches, or smart electrical switchboards
  • Choose soft mobility options: wherever possible, walk, cycle or use public transport
  • Buy energy-efficient equipment for the most energy-intensive tasks: LED (consumption is reduced eightfold compared with incandescent bulbs), commercial refrigeration units with doors (reduces consumption by 25% compared with open units), NF-certified inertia radiators (minimum of 20% reduction in energy consumption compared with convector radiators), double glazing (reduces heating requirements by 15%)

ASSISTANCE AND SUBSIDIES

Energy savings need to be made throughout the year in order to meet the targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. With the implementation of the National Energy Transition Pact recommendations and the financial arrangements available through the Green Fund, the Prince’s Government supports the purchase and installation of the most energy-efficient equipment.

Whether you are an individual or a business, financial assistance and subsidies are available, including for the construction sector (calls for exemplary renovation projects, window renovation, roof insulation, photovoltaic systems, etc.) and the transport sector (assistance to buy electric vehicles). As part of the Energy Saving Plan, the Prince’s Government is providing you with financial support.

1. Purchasing small appliances and devices to reduce your energy use

Are you looking to buy a LED, power strip, an energy-saving smart plug, or water-saving tap?

Would you like to save money and energy while reducing your greenhouse gas emissions?

The Mission for Energy Transition (MTE) is offering a grant of up to €3,000 to help cover the cost of purchasing low-energy appliances and devices.

The aim is to reduce the energy use of households and businesses.

There are benefits for both your wallet and the planet, so start making savings now!

2. Assistance with installing collective heat pumps to replace conventional boilers

Is your building heated by a collective heating system?

Would you like to save money and energy while reducing your greenhouse gas emissions?

Opt for a heat pump, and you can receive financial support from the Prince’s Government.

Heat pumps have several advantages:

  • They are more energy efficient
  • They emit fewer greenhouse gases
  • They are cheaper to run
  • They can also provide collective heating and air-conditioning for buildings, if pipes and radiators are replaced by fan convector units

The Mission for Energy Transition offers a grant covering 30% of the price of the equipment and the cost of installation.

DO YOU WANT TO COMMIT TO TAKING ON THE CLIMATE CHALLENGE?

Sign up to the National Pact for the Energy Transition at pacte-coachcarbone.mc

The National Energy Transition Pact is a Prince’s Government programme that helps you to take action on the three major sources of carbon emissions in Monaco: transport, waste and energy.

Check out the suggested actions and how to implement them with the guides available here
