The 24th European Heritage Day was a huge success: 17,155 visitors came to discover the Principality’s rich heritage on Sunday 29 September.

The most visited sites were the Prince’s Palace (2,231 visitors), the Oceanographic Museum (2,095), the Exotic Garden (1,853), H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco’s Car Collection (1,500) and the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology (1,238).

This year, Monte Carlo International Circus Festival opened the doors of its Big Top for the first time. 1,000 visitors attended the “Everyone in the ring” circus school and Femina Sports of Monaco demonstrations. Workshops were also held during the morning, and an exhibition of unique circus items from the private collection of Dr Alain Frère was on display.

The theme for the day was “Art and Entertainment”, a theme that aimed to be as broad as possible, covering the circus, theatre, ballet, graphic arts and radio, as well as other forms of art inspired by the field of entertainment. More than 40 sites opened their doors to share experiences based on Monaco’s heritage and to promote and encourage creativity and imagination.
