The Heritage Council was installed this morning by Serge Telle, Minister of State.  The installation of this Council follows the creation by Sovereign Ordinance No. 6.708 of 11 December 2017 of the Heritage Institute, which is responsible for preserving and enhancing the national heritage.

Led by Rainier Boisson, the Heritage Council comprises ten members*. Its role will be “to put forward proposals to guide or improve the identification, protection, preservation, promotion, development and transmission to future generations of national heritage.”

“The breadth of members’ talents will enable the Council to contribute to the Government’s thinking on this nuanced and complex issue. The Council’s proposals will also, as needed, inform the action taken by the Heritage Institute,” said the Minister.

In a country which, due to its small size, has no option but to constantly rebuild on top of itself, heritage is a priority for the Government. The Minister of State also noted that “as a small nation, the Principality must remain vigilant to preserve the things that make it unique in an ever-changing world.”

* The Council is comprised of ten members:

  • the Director of Forward Studies, Urban Planning and Mobility, or his/her representative under the Ministry of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development;
  • the Director of Cultural Affairs, or his/her representative;
  • the Director of the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology, or his/her representative;
