Launch of the 2021 Reading Marathon
The aim of the Reading Marathon, which was initiated in connection with the Literary Prize and the Discovery Grant, is to share the book selections made each year by the members of the Prince Pierre Foundation's Literary Council with as many people as possible. The entire selection will be presented at the launch on Tuesday 15 June at 3 p.m. at the Monaco Multimedia Library.
From 15 June until 31 August, users of the multimedia libraries of the Côte d'Azur are invited to read the novels submitted for the competition and share their impressions.
Following the Reading Marathon, the reader who has written the "best literary review" will receive a 500-euro voucher for the Librairie Masséna bookshop. He or she will also be invited to attend the Prize Announcement Ceremony and an evening event held by the Foundation in the presence of the winners of the Literary Prize on Tuesday 12 October in Monaco.
For the Literary Prize, which recognises a renowned French-speaking writer for his or her entire work, the Literary Council has selected :

- Benoît Duteurtre
- Annie Ernaux
- Pierre Michon
The authors competing for the 2021 Discovery Grant, which is awarded to a French-speaking author for a first novel, are:

- Ludmila Charles, La belle saison (The Beautiful Season), Editions Noir sur Blanc

- Dimitri Rouchon-Borie, Le démon de la colline aux loups (The Demon of Wolf Hill), Editions Le Tripode
