Yesterday evening, in the presence of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and senior figures in the Principality, 75 pupils who took part in the 2018 Monegasque language competition were presented with awards in the main courtyard at Monaco City Hall.

The evening opened with a performance by the U Cantin d’A Roca choir and speeches by Georges Marsan, Mayor of Monaco, and Karyn Ardisson-Salopek, a member of the Council of the Commune and Monegasque teacher. The winners were then announced.

A highlight of the evening was the very funny short play presented by the winning pupils and their teachers, which met with an enthusiastic reaction from the audience.

This year, 1,225 pupils aged from 10 to 18 and attending both state schools and private schools under contract, took part in the competition’s qualifying stages. The 75 pupils who achieved the best results at these stages were rewarded at yesterday’s ceremony.
