A Civilian Reserve at the Service of Schools in the Principality

With a view to developing and optimising the distribution of human resources in the Police Department, the Prince's Government has decided to create a Monegasque civilian reserve, comprised of young retirees from the police, who will supplement police officers at schools over a slightly extended working day.

Thus, since Tuesday 2 May, three reservists have been working at the Collège Charles III, the Lycée François d'Assise-Nicolas Barré and Monaco's Vocational and Catering School (Lycée Technique et Hôtelier de Monaco).  Their main mission is to ensure the essential security of the area around the schools and the access to these establishments.

Due to their permanent presence, the reservists also act as the Police Department's special contact with School Heads concerning security inside schools at all times of the day, to help prevent violence of any kind.

Their work is, of course, undertaken in close collaboration with the management team and educational advisors from the schools concerned, who alone are empowered to manage the running of the schools and the pupils in their charge.

Eventually, all the schools in the Principality will benefit from this scheme.
