80th Monaco Grand Prix traffic and access disruption

The Formula 1 Grand Prix and its preparations will impact road traffic, parking, bus travel and pedestrian access. These are the details of the effects on road users of the 2023 event, to be held from 25 to 28 May.

MOVEMENT OF VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS

Vehicles will not be permitted to travel on:

  • Quai des États-Unis, Route de la Piscine, Quai Jules Soccal, Darse Sud, Boulevard Albert Ier, Place du Casino, Avenue des Citronniers (as far as the entrance to the Métropole car park), Avenue Princesse Grace (from Avenue des Spélugues to Boulevard Louis II), Avenue J.-F. Kennedy, Boulevard Louis II, Avenue de la Madone (between its intersection with Avenue des Spélugues and Avenue de Grande-Bretagne), Avenue de Monte-Carlo, Avenue d’Ostende, Avenue des Spélugues, Quai Albert Ier, Avenue de la Quarantaine, Avenue de la Costa (between number 3 and Avenue d’Ostende)*, Rue Grimaldi (between Place Sainte-Dévote and Rue Princesse Florestine), Boulevard du Larvotto (between the Auréglia and Grande-Bretagne roundabouts, as well as between Rue du Portier and the Auréglia roundabout) and in the Rocher Albert Ier and Rocher Noghès tunnels from 25 to 28 May in the morning (between 6 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. depending on the day) to the end of the event;
  • in the Rocher Antoine Ier tunnel from 6 a.m. on 19 May to 6 p.m. on 30 May;
  • between Avenue des Papalins – between numbers 13 and 39 – and Avenue Albert II from 8 a.m. on 25 May to 11:59 p.m. on 28 May.

 

* Pedestrians will also not be permitted on these routes on the same days and times, as well as on Boulevard du Larvotto (between Rue du Portier and Rue Louis Auréglia), Avenue de la Porte Neuve, Rue des Remparts, Terrasse du Ministère d'État and on the Sainte-Dévote and De la Costa steps (except people with an entrance ticket or pass). Pedestrians will also not be allowed inside areas where structures are being dismantled up to 18 June.

In addition:

  • Quai des États-Unis: traffic will not be permitted at all from 6 a.m. on 20 May to 8 a.m. on 25 May and from 8:30 p.m. on 28 May to 8 p.m. on 30 May, and a one-way system will be in operation between the intersections with Boulevard Louis II and Avenue J.-F. Kennedy from 25 to 28 May and between Avenue J.-F. Kennedy and Route de la Piscine until 18 June**;
  • Route de la Piscine: traffic will not be permitted at all from 6 a.m. on 20 May to 8 a.m. on 25 May and from 8:30 p.m. on 28 May to 8 p.m. on 30 May and a one-way system will be in operation between Quai Jules Soccal and its intersection with Quai Antoine Ier until 18 June**;
  • Avenue J.-F. Kennedy: traffic will flow in both directions from 6 a.m. on 20 May to 8 a.m. on 25 May and from 8:30 p.m. on 28 May to 8 p.m. on 30 May;
  • Quai Antoine Ier: traffic will not be permitted from the morning of 25 May to the end of the event on 28 May along its whole length and until 4 June between its intersection with Route de la Piscine and number 14, with two-way traffic in operation alongside its buildings.

** These arrangements will be suspended from 25 to 28 May during the aforementioned closure times of the circuit. Areas will be cleared in advance as the disassembly progresses.

Other changes…

- From 25 to 28 May in the morning (between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. depending on the day) to the end of the event:

  • the one-way system on Avenue du Port (between Rue Terrazzani and Avenue de la Quarantaine) will be suspended;
  • the one-way systems on Rue Princesse Florestine (between Rue Suffren Reymond and Rue Grimaldi), Rue Suffren Reymond (between Rue Notari and Rue Princesse Florestine) and the Serravalle tunnel will be reversed;
  • a two-way traffic system will be in operation on Rue Grimaldi (between Rue Suffren Reymond and Place d’Armes) and Rue Notari (between Rue Suffren Reymond and Rue Princesse Antoinette).

- From 7 a.m. on 27 May and from 6 a.m. on 28 May, until the end of the event: the one-way traffic system in Monaco-Ville (Avenue des Pins - Place de la Visitation - Rue Princesse Marie de Lorraine - Rue Philibert Florence - Rue des Remparts - Place du Palais - Rue Colonel Bellando de Castro - Avenue Saint-Martin) will be suspended.

- From 5.30 a.m. on 27 May to the end of the event on 28 May: vehicles not registered in Monaco will not be allowed to drive along Avenue de la Porte Neuve.

VEHICLE PARKING

Vehicle parking will not be permitted on:

  • Quai Antoine Ier and Esplanade des Pêcheurs up to 4 June;
  • Quai des États-Unis, Route de la Piscine, Darse Sud and Quai Louis II up to 18 June;
  • Quai Jules Soccal up to 23 June;
  • Boulevard Albert Ier, Avenue Princesse Alice, Allée Guillaume Apollinaire, Place du Casino, Boulevard Charles III, Boulevard Princesse Charlotte (between the Madone crossroad and Place de la Crémaillère, and along numbers 27 to 21), Avenue des Citronniers (as far as the entrance to the Métropole car park), Avenue Henry Dunant, Rue Philibert Florence (except for the area for the disabled), Avenue Princesse Grace (from Avenue des Spélugues to Boulevard Louis II), Avenue de Grande-Bretagne (between Avenue de la Madone and Square Winston Churchill), Avenue de Grande-Bretagne (up and down, between numbers 10 and 20, and down, between number 20 and the intersection with Boulevard du Larvotto), Boulevard du Jardin Exotique (downward side, from number 36 to number 42), Avenue J.-F. Kennedy, Boulevard Louis II, Place de la Mairie (except for the area for the disabled), Avenue de Monte-Carlo, Boulevard des Moulins, Avenue d'Ostende, Rue du Portier, Avenue Prince Pierre, Boulevard Rainier III (between Avenue Prince Pierre and Rue Louis Auréglia), Rue des Remparts, Quai Jean-Chares Rey, Rue du Rocher, Avenue des Spélugues and Rue Baron Sainte-Suzanne (two-wheeled vehicle area) from 12 a.m. on 24 May to 10 p.m. on 28 May;
  • Avenue du Port (two-wheeled vehicle area and deliveries) from 8 a.m. on 19 May to 11:59 p.m. on 29 May;
  • Avenue de la Madone, Rue Grimaldi, Rue Princesse Florestine and Rue Princesse Antoinette (between Rue Notari and Boulevard Albert Ier) from 8 a.m. on 19 May to 12 a.m. on 30 May;
  • Avenue de la Quarantaine from 6 a.m. on 20 May to 6 p.m. on 30 May;
  • Avenue de la Costa, between number 3 and Avenue d'Ostende, from 11 p.m. on 21 May to 8 a.m. on 29 May, between Avenue Henry Dunant and Passage de la Porte Rouge, from 6 a.m. on 24 May to 11:59 p.m. on 28 May and between Avenue Princesse Alice and Avenue Henry Dunant, from 12 a.m. on 24 May to 10 p.m. on 28 May;
  • Quai Jean-Charles Rey (opposite number 16) from 11 p.m. on 21 May to 11:59 p.m. on 22 May;
  • Rue des Açores from 11 p.m. on 21 May to 4 p.m. on 30 May (with road traffic not allowed between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m.);
  • Rue Notari from 6 p.m. on 23 May to 10 p.m. on 28 May;
  • Avenue des Ligures and Ruelle Saint-Jean from 6 a.m. on 24 May to 10 p.m. on 28 May;
  • Rue Suffren Reymond, between Rue Grimaldi and Rue Princesse Florestine, from 6 a.m. on 24 May to 10 p.m. on 28 May, and between Rue Princesse Florestine and Boulevard Albert Ier from 12 noon on 24 May to 10 p.m. on 28 May;
  • Avenue de Roqueville and in Passage de la Porte Rouge from 6 a.m. on 24 May to 11:59 pm on 28 May;
  • Boulevard de Suisse, between Avenue de la Costa and Avenue de Roqueville, from 6 a.m. on 24 May to 11:59 p.m. on 28 May and, on the upward side, between Passage de la Porte Rouge and Avenue de Roqueville, from 8 a.m.to 7 p.m. on 29 May;
  • Rue Louis Auréglia from 6 a.m. on 27 May to 8 p.m. on 28 May.

ELECTRIC CHARGING POINTS

Up to 30 May, some Monaco ON charging points will be out of action and covered to free up the spaces needed for installations for the event. These are the charging points on:

  • Rue Grimaldi;
  • Rue Notari;
  • Rue Louis Auréglia;
  • Rue Princesse Florestine;
  • Quai des États-Unis;
  • Avenue de la Madone;
  • Avenue de la Quarantaine;
  • Boulevard d’Italie.

CAM BUS ROUTES

 

From 25 to 28 May, the urban routes of the Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco will be re-routed as follows: https://www.cam.mc/a-la-une-fr/05-grand-prix-de-f1-du-jeudi-25-mai-au-dimanche-28-mai-2023

MONABIKE SERVICE

  • The Place Sainte-Dévote self-service electric bike stand (moved to Promenade Honoré II) and the Sauvaigo stand will be out of action from the end of the day on 24 May to the start of the day on 30 May;
  • The Parking des Pêcheurs stand will be out of action at the same times from 19 to 30 May;
  • The Darse Nord and Yacht Club stands will be out of action from 5 to 31 May;
  • The Place d'Armes stand, removed to make room for a fan zone, will be back in service on 30 May.

MARKETS

The market stalls normally at the Marché de la Condamine will be transferred every morning, from 22 to 29 May inclusively, to the top of Rue des Açores. In addition, the Petit Marché in Monaco-Ville will be closed on 26 May.
