Grand Ida project: one-off partial closure of Dorsale spine road

The work required to complete the Grand Ida project is continuing, with the aim of delivering the 160 state-owned apartments included in the National Housing Plan by 2023.

Following on from the work carried out in April and August 2022 to create access to the future underground car park (the entrance will link to the Dorsale spine road tunnel and the exit to the Fontvieille downhill tunnel), a new phase will require switching off the smoke exhaust ventilation systems, meaning that the Dorsale spine road tunnel will need to be closed between the Aureglia and Canton underground roundabouts for safety reasons.

Since the work should not create any noise pollution or vibrations, the Government has opted to carry it out exclusively at night, during the week, to minimise the impact on traffic.

The work will take place in a series of phases, between 9 pm and 6 am, from Monday to Friday, starting on 31/10/2022 until 06/01/2023 inclusive:
- From 31/10 to 11/11 (except during the night of 01–02/11)
- From 14/11 to 01/12
- From 05/12 to 16/12 (except during the night of 08–09/12)
- From 16/12 to 31/12
- From 02/01 to 06/01
The roundabouts will remain in use and their other entrances and exits will not be affected.

The Grand Ida project is underway in the Plati district, above Place Canton and behind a covered section (Dorsale spine road) which includes roads and underground roundabouts. The project is contributing to a radical transformation of the district, with a new energy, composition, shape and connections.

The future complex will comprise state-owned and private housing, a car park, a crèche, an adult day care centre and assisted living facility, offices and shops. Delivery of the buildings which will house the state-owned apartments is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023.
