Ilot Pasteur development: Avenue de Fontvieille will reopen to uphill traffic from 23 December 2022

Work on the Ilot Pasteur development, which has required the closure of Avenue de Fontvieille to uphill traffic since 12 September, has accelerated in recent weeks, meaning that it will be possible to reopen the road from 6 pm on 23 December 2022.

Initially announced for 15 January 2023, the reopening of the road to uphill traffic has been brought forward by more than two weeks, in accordance with the Prince’s Government’s wishes to return the space to users ahead of the festive period.

Thanks to the efforts of the companies that have been able to step up their pace in recent weeks, taking advantage of the continued full closure, the work, aimed at enlarging the construction area by covering a portion of Avenue de Fontvieille (in the uphill direction), is now complete. The construction will support the foundations of the future office building.

From now on, only work associated with the progress of the site (moving the crane, connecting services) may require occasional closures of this road.

The Ilot Pasteur project is one of the biggest public construction projects in the Principality, and will see the development of a group of buildings with a total surface area of more than 100,000 square metres. From 2024 onwards, it will host numerous facilities that are vital to life in Monaco, such as the new Collège Charles III, the new Espace Léo Ferré, the new media library and a public car park offering 900 spaces.
