A Picina Bibliuteca - A Self-Service Participatory Library

A participatory library - a project led by the Department of Urban Amenities (DAU) - has recently been set up in the Jardin de l'Âne, near the Ecole de Fontvieille school.

The aim of A Picina Bibliuteca is to give a new life to books (and DVDs);  users can leave some there and borrow others.  The content of the library is thus continuously renewed.

The design of the structure was conceived by the New York-based Venezuelan architects from Stereotank (http://www.stereotank.com/ ), whose plans are available in open source.  The concept was, with their agreement, taken up and transformed by the DAU.   Books deposited there are also protected from the elements, as the inner wall is made of Plexiglas.

This concept is expected to be developed in other places in the Principality.

Feel free to help yourself and to leave books that you no longer require, which others can benefit from!

This topic will be available soon on Monaco Info and our social networks.
