During the night of 14 to 15 December, a binational exercise aimed at establishing and coordinating an emergency response system linking the Principality of Monaco and its neighbouring French department took place at the SNCF station in Monaco.

The exercise scenario was based on an explosion followed by a fire in the fuel tank of a track motorcar operating on a work site in the Cap d’Ail railway tunnel, with the accident resulting in casualties.

Participating in the exercise on the Monegasque side were the Ministry of the Interior, the Fire and Emergency Service, the Palace Guards, the Police Department, the Monaco Red Cross, Princess Grace Hospital and the Department of Health Affairs. The French side was represented by the Prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes region, the Joint Ministerial Office for Civil Defence and Protection, the Alpes-Maritimes Regional Fire and Emergency Service, the SNCF and the National Gendarmerie.
