On Thursday 16 January, in the presence of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, Benoîte de Sevelinges, Director of the Princess Grace Hospital (CHPG), accompanied by Serge Telle, Minister of State, Mgr. Barsi, Archbishop of Monaco, Government Ministers and Stéphane Valéri, President of the National Council, gave a New Year address to all the hospital staff.   At this ceremony, the Director gave a complete overview of the CHPG's activities in 2019, namely:

- A stable number of hospitalisation days;  the attractiveness of the establishment is confirmed

- An increase in admissions of 3.5%;  an increase in surgical activity of 2% and a 20% increase in the number of check-ups

- More than 80,000 patients were cared for by the CHPG

- 99.4% of patients were satisfied with the care they received at the CHPG and 93% gave a rating of more than 8/10 for their stay.

Benoîte De Sevelinges emphasised the solidarity of the staff and highlighted their efficiency in the digital field.  Thanks to professionals in all areas, the information system master plan has been operating successfully since its implementation in 2017 – automation of the pharmacy was completed in record time.  The foundations of the Electronic Patient Records were put in place in the second half of the year;  the project will continue throughout 2020 and will be completed by the end of the year, with new services offered to patients.

She recalled that the year had begun with the start of temporary relocation operations linked to the New Hospital, in the Princess Grace Pavilion.

With regard to Major Projects, studies for Phase 1 of the New Princess Grace Hospital are nearing completion.  Construction work has been efficiently relaunched by the Department of Public Works.  With regard to the New Cap Fleuri, it will be necessary to make preparations in 2020 for the planned move next year into the future Cap 2 building.

The Director of the CHPG concluded her speech by saying "The men and women who work at the CHPG devote their medical, psychological, nursing, financial, administrative, labour, logistical and other skills to the patients with humility, discretion and determination."

In His address, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince drew attention to the wonderful role of the hospital staff and their noble calling.

As a preamble to the address ceremony, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince visited the two new medical imaging scanners, which were financed by the Prince's Government - the diagnostic scanner and the scanner for interventions, as well as the new ENT department, which was entirely renovated in 2019.
