Alert, massage, defibrillate - that was the theme of an awareness day held on Thursday 17 January by Nursing students from the Tony Varo year group.  With the help of the first aid section of the Monegasque Red Cross and the Monaco Fire and Emergency Service, the students, in various strategic locations in the Principality (the Place du Marché, the Fontvieille Shopping Mall and the railway station), informed the public and demonstrated how to save lives, in particular by using an automatic defibrillator.

Two CPR training mannequins and semi-automatic defibrillators were used for practicing cardiac massage in a "real-life" situation and teaching the appropriate techniques, under the watchful eye of Dr. Jean-Paul Rinaldi, cardiologist at the CHPG and president of the Monegasque Association for Combating Sudden Death (Association Monégasque de Lutte contre la Mort Subite).

After undertaking a survey of the population on 30 November 2018, students from the I.F.S.I. implemented their public health action plan throughout the day, because simple actions and techniques can sometimes save a life.
